Maxine Medina (girl in photo), a starlet, was earlier announced as one of the official candidates for the Binibining Pilipinas 2012. However, she was disqualified prior to the press presentation and was replaced by Ayelee Marie Dasalla. It was said that she was pulled out because of a certain product that sponsored the Binibini, which is a rival product of the one endorsed by Maxine. Oh well, we thought it was another case of Binibining Pilipinas sex scandal. Out of curiousity, we googled "Maxine Medina scandal", and this is the only one we got. Ah, not really scandalous...but this is something extra hot! Lucky Maxine!

Marianne Mae Te is Mutya ng Dabaw 2012!

For the first ever Mutya ng Dabaw coronation night hosted by Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes, a candidate named Marianne got the crowd and the crown.

Mutya ng Dabaw 2012 Marianne Mae Te also got a kiss on the cheek from the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 Best Actor during the end of the casual interview portion. The hotel and restaurant management graduate of Philippine Women’s College who is currently studying culinary arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies was the lone finalist who got the smack from Dingdong from among the five beautiful candidates.

Dingdong asked her how to end a dinner with a person she wants to cook for. Marianne said the dinner with her own “Dingdong” should end with a kiss on the cheek, and Dantes then gave her one.

It garnered the loudest applause and cheer of the night.

The 21-year-old Marianne, or Yanni to friends and relatives, said she showed up at the Mutya ng Dabaw final night “so prepared.”

The Toril lass cited that the numerous barangay beauty contests she participated in gave her the edge over the four other finalists in scoring the city’s highest beauty crown Wednesday night at the Davao Recreation Center.

While some may consider barangay beauty contest as petty, this pretty pageant veteran in Davao City said she was not ashamed to make the rounds in various barangays.

“From one barangay to another,” Marianne told reporters after the coronation.

The Davao-born stunner is the reigning Mutya ng Buhangin (Buhangin district) and Mutya ng R. Castillo (Agdao district).

The first Mutya ng barangay she joined was in her barangay in Toril, Toril District in 2007. She ended first runner-up. However, it did not stop her from joining more contests.

She said her experience in joining barangay beauty contests definitely worked in her favor in achieving the Mutya ng Dabaw crown.

Now that she already achieved the grandest beauty title in the city, the 5’6″, 115-pound fashion model said she is setting her sight for beauty contests in the national level.

“After my (Mutya ng Dabaw) reign, maybe Ms. World, Binibining (Pilipinas) or Mutya (ng Pilipinas),” said Marianne who is obviously set to follow the footsteps of previous Mutya ng Dabaw like Erlinda Mejia (1990) who was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental in 1996, Johanne Bernice Guirgen (2006) who placed in the top 6 in 2005 Mutya ng Pilipinas, and MJ Lastimosa (2008) who placed second runner up in 2011 Binibining Pilipinas, among others.

Marianne said her advocacy for her Mutya ng Dabaw reign “will be the best of both worlds.”

“I will practice (what I am studying) and help the community (in the same time),” the culinary student said.

She vows to teach her culinary experience to unemployed women for their livelihood.

Marianne dreams of having her own restaurant and hotel.

In the question and answer portion, Brigadier General Benito Antonio T. De Leon of the Armed Forces of the Philippines asked Marianne where to tour visitors in Davao.

Marianne cited San Pedro Cathedral, Eden Mountain Resort, Samal Island and Jack’s Ridge, adding that Davao offers the beauty and bounty of the highlands and the islands.

Her goal in life is still simple: make her father Mariano and mother Norma proud and happy.

Marianne bested four other finalists in the competition that saw 15 beautiful ladies from various barangays in the city in their quest to win the crown.

Her crown carries a P75,000 prize and a one-year contract with the city government as its ambassador.

She was also named Ms. Air Phil Express.

Completing the Mutya ng Dabaw 2012 were Diwa ng Dabaw Dorothy Maruel Ibañez (first runner-up), Sinag ng Dabaw Jhoanna Myles Te (second runner-up), Pag-asa ng Dabaw Maria Theresa Tan (third runner-up) and Patnubay ng Dabaw Jazzel Therese Gomez (fourth runner-up).

The other Te, Jhoanna, won the Ms. Photogenic and the Netizen Choice awards. Dorothy was named Ms. Kapuso.

The Mutya ng Dabaw Coronation Night on Wednesday night at the Davao Recreational Center was a grandiose star-studded event with the Kapuso Network producing the event for the first time.

Kapuso stars TJ Trinidad and Gian Magdangal separately seneraded the finalists, while Kyla performed pop hits.

Isabelle Daza, the daughter of Philippines’ first Ms. Universe, Ms. Gloria Diaz (who was the Miss Universe in 1969, the same year that the first Mutya ng Dabaw was held with Rachel Arkoncell as winner), served as one of the hosts, together with GMA regional hosts, Cebu’s Anna Marie Igpit (Bb. Pilipinas-World 2006) and Davao’s Resci Rizada (Mutya ng Dabaw 2009).

Miss World 2011 First Runner Up Gwendolyn Ruais served as one of the judges, together with Oliver Amoroso, the assistant vice president for sales and marketing of GMA Regional TV.

The event will be aired by GMA on March 25 in SNBO timeslot in GMA regional stations in Mindanao (Davao, Cagayan de Oro and General Santos). It will also be aired starting 8:30 a.m. on the same date in the regional stations in Visayas and Luzon.

Chavit Singson has a photo being unleashed on the internet which is getting viral. The said photo featuring Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson partying inside an airplane with sexy women is currently the hot topic on several social networking sites and blogs.

In the photo, Chavit Singson is surrounded by sexy Brazilian women. The governor and some of the women are holding what appears to be a drink and on his left side is a liquor bottle. Singson admitted via an interview with ABSCBNNews.com that the party really happened in his private plane but it was only a set up for a liquor ad shoot.
