Manila (Asia News Network) - Famous Filipino singers Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez were officially wedded Wednesday (December 22) in a ceremony attended by the glitziest personalities in Philippine show business.
According to reports and tweets of visitors at the lavish wedding in Terrazas de Punta Fuego in Batangas Province, about two hours outside Manila, the bride was wearing a red gown by Hollywood designer Monique Lhullier.
Based on the photos posted by Filipino celebrity designer Rajo Laurel, the bride matched her non-traditional red gown with a metal studded black rocker boots.
The entourage were wearing different hues.
Laurel mentioned in his tweets that the bride, who sang her own vows, became emotional while the groom replied "I'll be your Reginean, your Brad Pitt, and Justin Bieber..."
Velasquez ended her vows with the words "I've never felt so happy all my life".
Among the showbiz personalities and politicians in attendance was Philippine President Benigno Aquino III who served as one of the groomsmen.
Alcasid and Velasquez were instrumental in the campaign of Aquino last May elections. Alcasid composed a song for the 50-year bachelor President's campaign and inauguration while Velasquez and other personalities sang in the video.
The affair was touted as the wedding of the year because of years of anticipation from adoring Filipino fans. Alcasid and Velasquez are regular hosts of a noontime weekly variety show in the Philippines. They also appear in TV series and movies.
This is the first marriage for Velasquez and second for Alcasid, who was divorced from Australian Michelle van Eimeren, a former beauty queen.
Van Eimeren, who personally made the flower arrangement, was present at the wedding along with their two daughters.
